16mm, 4 minutes looped, ruskin gallery, cambridge
2012

'Concealment' continues Evelin’s investigation into spectatorship, representation, and the construction of female identity. Shot on 16mm, the film draws on the visual language of fashion and beauty advertising while quietly unsettling its conventions, exposing the tension between seduction, performance, and authenticity.

Presented as a dual-screen installation, the work places two contrasting perspectives in dialogue. One embraces the polished aesthetics of commercial image-making; the other disrupts and deconstructs that illusion, revealing the vulnerability and labour behind the performance. The viewer is left to navigate between the two, continually negotiating where to look and how meaning is constructed.

Each projection and soundtrack loops independently, creating an ever-changing relationship between image and sound. No two encounters with the work are the same, reinforcing its exploration of perception, fragmentation, and the instability of the gaze.
